Starting with its design & Build:

The Motorola moto G30 design is fairly conventional, it has a curved plastic unibody design, it comes with 2 colour variant Dark Pearl & Pastel Sky, both are having gradient design, regardless of the colours though it looks glossy. On the rare side, it has got 64MP Quad-Cam Setup with led flash & rare mounted fingerprint scanner with a moto logo.
The Moto G30 dimension of 165.22 x 75.73 x 9.14 mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 200.00 grams.
This has water repellent coating on its internals which gives you some extra peace of mind, but the moto G30’s standout feature is its high refresh rate display, well just moderately high at 90 hertz but besides that, the screen is nothing too exciting it’s an HD+ 6.5 inch LCD IPS display & pixel density of just 270 ppi. A waterdrop notch for the selfies cam with an 8MP.
Power button & volume rockers are placed on the right-hand side and there is a dedicated google assistant button is placed on the top, The left frame stays mostly clean except for the sim tray which is a hybrid slot.
while you will find the headphone jack on the top side. USB type c port and the speaker grille on the bottom side of the phone.

Moto G30 Display:

This Motorola device features a 6.5” LCD IPS screen with an HD plus resolution, and featuring a smoother 90Hz refresh rate. Just like Samsung Galaxy M12 as it offers same HD+ 90Hz screen, Moto should have gone for an FHD display or an OLED panel as given its competitors like xiaomi is offering sharper full HD display at a similar price point. Still, this 6.5-inch screen is not terrible to look it has pixel density of 270 ppi & 20:09 Display Aspect Ratio, it’s smoother than your regular 60Hz panel and the viewing angles are decent, however lcd colors achieve some okay results and brightness boost to nearly 470 nits in auto mode.

Refresh rate setting:

the high refresh rates, There are three modes to choose from 60 hertz and 90 hertz, which by default it will be in auto mode, which is adaptive – it will dial back to 60 when you’re not interacting with the screen. we suggest to stick on 90Hz as it has decent battery life.

Performance and Memory:

Motorola G30 performance

This Moto feature is a snapdragon 662 chipset which comes with the integrated Adreno 610 GPU, built on an 11-nanometer process it’s a relatively recent mid-range chipset which prioritizes power efficiency. This 2Ghz Octa-Core on G30 doesn’t blow away the competition by its performance, however, it is a decent processor which manages daily task & multitasking easily.
This device is available in a single memory configuration of 4GB RAM and 64GB Storage, which can be expandable upto 1TB.

Camera:

Motorola G30 camera setup

The rare 64 Megapixel with f/1.7 aperture main sensor has a outputs 16MP photos using quad-pixel technology in 3:4 Aspect ratio, however, you can change the resolution & ratio in the setting but off course you can click pics in full resolution. The quadcam setup includes an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 118˚ Field of View. Along with two additional sensors of 2MP depth sensor & 2MP macro sensor. In Front, you get a 13MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
The output of the main camera is overall very good there’s a lot of fine detail with natural-looking textures, nice contrast lively colours and excellent dynamic range.
Portraits are taken with the help of the depth sensor and these look good with competent subject detection, However, the results are decent,
G30’s 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera can’t shoot in its native resolution, but in this class, you get excellent dynamic range and the distortion correction is well done.
The macro camera of the Moto G30 takes unimpressive close-up photos which are low in detail, after all it’s just 2 megapixels and it has fixed focus.

Lowlight Shooting:

In low light the moto G30’s main cam produces an unreliable performance, you get a fair amount of detail but the auto hdr may or may not kick in, resulting in clipped highlights and the focus can miss sometimes and quite often the white balance is off too.
Turning on night mode addresses many of these issues and results in better-developed highlights and shadows and some of the noise gets smoothed out.
The moto G30’s ultra-wide camera doesn’t do well at night you get underexposed and soft images with low detail and narrow dynamic range.

Front Camera:

Motorola G30 front camera

13-megapixel front-facing camera produces good looking shots under a good lighting condition, it retains excellent details while the colours are close to natural, and appealing skin tones offers face beauty mode, where you can set to auto, which enhances beauty depending on seen.

Video Recording:

videos can be recorded in 1080p resolution in 30 & 60 FPS, and the footage from the main cam is pretty underwhelming the detail looks highly processed and the dynamic range is rather narrow.
At least there is low noise the ultra-wide cams footage is softer and has an even narrower dynamic range there is electronic stabilization available and it works well for the most part, It eliminates shakiness in your footage, which can produce good looking shots under good lighting condition.

Software:

The Moto G30’s software interface is near-stock android 11 with some neat Motorola features sprinkled in. The android experience here is smooth and straightforward and you get google’s newest additions, which include one-time permissions notification, grouping and messaging bubbles, if you explore the Moto app you will see pretty much all of Motorola’s.

Software Features:

This device offers Customizations, you can personalize the phone with many options for icons colours, fonts and wallpapers too, However motion gestures are kind of Moto’s signature thing, by Shaking you can turn On/Off Flash, or twisting the phone you can activate the camera, and many more customizable shortcuts, there are some display-related features too, the attentive display disables screen timeout while you’re looking at the phone and the peak display is a nice alternative to an always-on display showing you the time and notifications every time you pick up the phone.
The google assistant button is convenient to have, but is pretty high up on the phone and hard to reach – It Launches voice assistance with one click.

Battery:

motorola G30 battery

The moto G30 has a large 5000 mAh battery and battery life is impressive, it was able to last for 2 days on moderate usage. Comes along with 20W Power brick provides awesome charging speed & it is acceptable for the class, we were able to charge from zero to 50% percent in an hour & with 50% charge it can last one full day.

Audio & Call Quality:

Bottom mounted speaker isn’t too loud and quality is just average here although it wont disappoint you while watching videos or listening music.

You also have a 3.5 mm jack for headphones and audio output is great, you’ll also get audio effects like 3D Stereo & custom settings, you can listen to fm radio if you have headphones plugged in.
Call quality is really good on this device & didn’t face any issue.

Connectivity & Sensors:

This device support NFC for your contactless payments and connectivity, Although it is very unusual to see NFC at this price point.
This device doesn’t support 5G, It has dual 4G support along with dual-band wifi & Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity.
It has got number of Sensors like a Fingerprint reader, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient Light sensor & Gyroscope

Security:

Moto G30’s Fingerprint reader is quick & reliable, Face unlock feature is also available which is pretty accurate.
Motorola adds Business-grade security – ThinkShield
Think Shield is a product of Lenovo’s ThinkShield portfolio. Which adds a Security layer on the hardware level, which includes features like hardware root of trust & secure boot.
Software Security features End-to-end security solution for your smartphone like Remote device lock for stolen/lost devices, Malware security many other security features.

Verdict on Motorola Moto G30:

A well looking and all rounded package for your money. The Moto G30 you get a large high refresh rate display, excellent battery life, a clean software experience and decent camera performance. Yes at this price you’ll get phones with high res display, though it is not FHD display but it is not disappointing too..

Is Moto G30 worth buying?

When You Compare this Moto device with similar priced Samsung’s – Galaxy M12 & F12, which is also having a 90Hz HD+ display & Big battery & a high-resolution 42MP camera.
We Still prefer Moto over Samsung, as G30 has a better performing processor, G30 has got IPS display over LCD in M12, Moto’s 64MP shoots better than 42MP of M12, Galaxy M12 is having an edge in Battery life but Moto’s 5000mAh is not disappointing too. Additionally, you will get NFC & IP52 ratting which is missing in Samsung’s budget device.

Pros

  • 90Hz IPS Display
  • Stock software & NFC
  • Decent daylight camera
  • Good Battery Life
  • IP52 Water Repellent Design

Cons

  • Only HD+ resolution
  • Poor LowLight camera
  • Only FHD video recording – No 4K
  • Bulky design
