Apple iPhone SE Detail review
Colors:
There are 3 different colors in iPhone SE Red, White, Black.
Variants:
There are 3 variants Storage 64GB, 128GB, 256GB.
Metal & its Dimensions:
The metal frame is made from a Aerospace grade Aluminum and not the scientific-sounding “surgical-grade stainless steel”, however it doesn’t feel any less premium. In fact, I’d say because the iPhone SE’s 138.4x 67.3x 7.33 mm and being weight of 148 grams, going with aluminum helps balance the phone so it doesn’t feel as heavy as it otherwise might. Aluminum is also easier to grip than stainless steel. It doesn’t attract fingerprints.
Splash, Water, Dust Resistances:
Besides the difference in metal, the iPhone SE is IP67 water- and dust-resistant (submersible in up to 1-meter depth of water for up to 30 minutes). The iPhone SE phones are IP67 rated, giving them double the water depth submersion, but unless you’re worried about it dropping your iPhone in a lake or the ocean, IP67 is still darn good. The iPhone SE can also easily survive a splash of beer, tea, coffee, soda, etc.
The glass back, which lets the iPhone SE support wireless charging, is as durable as the glass on the iPhone X. Meanwhile, the front glass appears as scratch-resistant.
Headphone & Speakers:
The iPhone SE doesn’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack. To the ear, the speakers on the iPhone SE played just as loud as those on the iPhone XS or even the iPhone XS Max.
Screen / Display:
With a 4.70-inch screen, the iPhone SE has a best handy display. The main trade-off of the display is the screen technology. It uses an LCD “Liquid Retina” with multi touch display with IPS technology, 750×1334 pixels resolution at 326ppi. 1400:1 contrast ratio with True tone display Haptic touch. The Screen is coated with Oleophobic Fingerprint-resistant.
Camera:
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Apple iPhone SE on the rear packs a 12-megapixel camera with an f/1.8 aperture. The rear camera setup has autofocus. It sports a 7-megapixel camera on the front for selfies, with an f/2.2 aperture.
The iPhone SE’s 12-megapixel camera has a f/1.8 aperture main camera. The iPhone SE relies on machine learning to perform the same trick. Apple says it trained the Neural Engine in the phone’s A13 Bionic chip to identify faces specifically for portrait mode. As a result, it can blur out the background, but only when a person is detected in the frame. If the camera doesn’t see a person, it’ll display “No person detected.”
So how good are portraits with a single camera compared to portraits on the iPhone XS/XS Max with dual cameras? Actually, not bad at all. The iPhone SE does a good job isolating the background. The focal length is of course different the iPhone SE’s portrait mode takes photos equivalent to a 24mm camera lens (wider) and the iPhone XS’s portrait mode takes shots comparable to a 50mm camera lens (closer) — but it’s not as poor as we had expected.
Even zooming in, the iPhone SE’s edge-detection for the subject is quite good. It’s not always perfect if your hair’s in more strands and the borders of a person are more jagged, portrait mode can get confused. If you take a look at this front portrait selfie Mashable.
Different lighting conditions will affect the quality of portrait photos. In my experience, shooting outdoors produces the best portraits with the cleanest separation between foreground and background. It also helps to tap a person’s face to focus on it as the foreground.
It can zoom upto 5x digital zoom & 2x optical zoom, Autofocus with Focus Pixels. iPhone SE has Smart HRD uses ‘computational’ knowledge to alter contrast, white balance and other settings when you take a picture, with the idea that the result will be better for photos, the Wide color capture for photos and Live Photos. The flash of iPhone SE uses LED True Tone flash with Slow Sync. Auto image stabilization makes iPhone SE best for action or sports photo’s.
Video:
iPhone SE can record 4K video at 24, 30, or 60 frames per second, 1080p HD video at 30 or 60 frames per second, or 720p HD video at 30 frames per second. Extended dynamic range is available for video up to 30 frames per second, and when capturing video, digital zoom up to 3x is available. It supports 1080p Slow-motion video at 120 or 240 frames per second, time-lapse video, and 1080p and 720p cinematic video stabilization. Stereo recording is included, as is stereo playback with new wider sound separation.
Processor Chip:
The iPhone SE is equipped with a new 7-nanometer A13 Bionic chip that’s faster and more efficient than the A12 in the previous-generation iPhone X.
There are two high-performance cores in the A13 that are up to 15 percent faster than the A12 Bionic and four efficiency cores that use up to 50 percent less power. The A13 enables much longer battery life for the iPhone SE.
the A13-chip has a next-generation 8-core version that uses real-time machine learning to power features across the operating system, improving photo taking, gaming, augmented reality, and more.
According to Apple, the Neural Engine is able to perform five trillion operations per second, allowing more to be done in real time. It’s what powers the machine learning features in the iPhone SE, like photo search, Face ID, and augmented reality experiences.
Connectivity:
iPhone SE supports LTE Advanced for data transfer speeds up to 450Mb/s. It works with more than 20 LTE bands, with Apple using a single model for all cellular networks.
Model A2105*
FDD‑LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 32, 66)

GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi:
iPhone SE supports the Bluetooth 5.0 standard. Bluetooth 5.0 offers longer range, faster speeds, larger broadcast message capacity, and better interoperability with other wireless technologies. Compared to Bluetooth 4.2, Bluetooth 5 offers four times the range, two times the speed, and eight times the broadcast message capacity.
802.11ac Wi-Fi with 2×2 MIMO is supported, with support for connection speeds that can reach a theoretical maximum of 866Mb/s.
GPS and NFC:
Support for GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS location services is included in the iPhone SE.
NFC with reader mode is included, and for the first time, the iPhone SE includes a background tag feature that allows them to scan NFC tags without the need to open an app first
Power & Battery:
The iPhone SE has a 1624 mAh Built-in rechargeable lithium‑ion battery. iPhone SE lasts upto 1.5 hours longer then iPhone 8 plus, Up to 25 hours talk time, upto 15 hours of internet usage, video playback upto 16 hours, 65 hours of Audio playback.
Fast‑charge capable: Up to 50% charge in 30 minutes with 18W adapter or higher (available separately) Wireless charging (works with Qi chargers), Charging via USB to computer system or power adapter.
iPhone SE works with 7.5W and 5W wireless charging accessories. Multiple companies have now developed wireless charging options designed specifically for Apple’s iPhones.
