Lets start the review with the design, The iPhone 13 doesn’t exactly separate the shell in terms of design, it has the same characteristic shape & design as last year’s iPhone 12, but with one notable difference: the notch cutout for the selfie cam and face id is smaller this time. This may not seem like a big deal, but since introducing the notch to its iPhone X, Apple has stayed with the same design till iPhone 12, and now that they’ve finally altered their mind.
The back cameras have a different diagonal configuration, maybe due to the larger sensor in the main camera. the new iPhone is slightly 10 grams heavier than last year’s model, The elegant iPhone design is at its core, with a flat Corning manufactured glass back and the trademark Apple logo. The phone is nicely balanced and comfortable to operate, and as last year’s model, the flat and rough aluminum body provides a strong grip. Of course, the iPhone 13 is water and dust resistant to IP68 standards. Apple promises that it can withstand six meters of water for half an hour.
The iPhone 13’s screen is similar to last year’s, with a 6.1-inch super retina XDR OLED protected by a ceramic shield, some of the toughest panels available. While the iPhone 13 Pro has a faster 120hz refresh rate, the regular model still has a 60hz refresh rate and HDR10 and Dolby Vision audio capabilities. The iPhone 13 has two stereo speakers, one at the bottom and the other at the top that also serves as an earpiece. They are well stable and loud, The sound quality is superb. There is no 3.5-millimeter jack, so you’ll need to use an apple lighting adapter to use conventional headphones.
This 6.1” display has a high resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels & a density of 460 PPI, Screen is protected with scratch-resistant ceramic glass & oleophobic coating. Other notable features include deep OLED blacks, true tone, The display features rounded corners with a nice curving shape that are contained within a normal rectangle. When defined in terms of a conventional rectangular shape, With an ultra-high pixel density, the Super Retina XDR display appears extra-sharp. And, thanks to a smaller notch area, the display looks even bigger.
The iPhone 13 features a more traditional-sized 6.1-inch display same as 13 PRO, while the iPhone 13 PRO MAX has a 6.7-inch display. It’s a Super Retina XDR OLED Display made by Apple, and it makes for a clear and bright image – the brightness has been improved over last year, the display is 28% brighter than iPhone 12. 13 series is around 800 nits compared to around 640 nits on the iPhone 12, So you can use this phone comfortably in the direct sunlight & For HDR content it goes up to 1,200 nits.

Apple’s New A15 bionic chip is one of the most powerful mobile processors available, offering incredible performance as well as 5G connection. The iPhone 13 outperforms the iPhone 12 in cpu tests, scoring up to 15% higher than the iPhone 12.
It performs well, relatively better than last year’s model, and even the most demanding games run smoothly even on their maximum graphics settings, plus the iPhone 13’s thermals aren’t too bad.
one difference from last year’s model is that the base capacity has been doubled that is 128GB compared to 64GB in iPhone 12, and there’s also the option of getting 512 GB of storage on board, which isn’t expandable.
The iphone 13 has a 3240 mAh battery capacity, which is larger than the 2815 mAh on the iphone 12, and battery life is better here. The new model scored an 89-hour endurance rating in our tests, allowing for at least three more hours of video playback or internet browsing. However, the charging speed is a little slower with the larger battery. There is no charger in the box, but we were able to charge the iphone 13 from zero to 54 percent in half an hour using Apple’s 20 watt power brick, Wireless charging is also supported, with a maximum output of 15 watts when using a MagSafe charger.
The dual-cameras on the iPhone 13 is similar to last year phone, there’s a 12 mp primary camera and a 12 mp ultra-wide sensor, however this time the main camera has a new sensor with larger pixels and sensor-shift.
The main camera’s photographs have a lot of detail, a lot of contrast, and a low noise. The dynamic range isn’t huge, but it’s well-balanced and natural, and the colors are vibrant.
However, just like last year, the pictures looks similar. We expected an improvement in this area due to the larger sensor, but when you compare the iPhone 13s photos to the iPhone 12s photos, they are barely distinguishable, and this pattern continued throughout our testing despite the new sensor.
The main camera is capable of shooting portraits, and it does it wonderfully; the subjects are sharp and detailed, and the exposure is well-balanced. Subject separation is often good, yet disordered hair or a background subject.

In comparison to the iPhone 12, the quality is comparable. In low-light circumstances, neither the camera nor the processors have changed. The photographs are nicely balanced both noise and exposure wise and have an incredible level of detail. Night mode kicks in immediately and it’s very fast to shoot and process. Color saturation is superb, and so is contrast and dynamic range. Night mode pictures shot with the iPhone 12 are indistinguishable, indicating that the larger sensor on the main camera and the new sort of stabilization isn’t making much of a difference. You may switch off the night mode for a more realistic photo, these are a bit softer, and the colors are a little washed out, but you still get good detail, contrast, dynamic range, and exposure. Though disabling night mode on the ultra-wide isn’t recommended, the images are much darker and noisier with smear detail and desaturated color combinations, the ultra-white camera produces acceptable photos in the dark thanks to the auto night mode. They have balanced exposure, good contrast, and color saturation, but they are still rather soft and noisy.

The ultra-wide camera’s 4k movies are equally impressive; it has to be among the most detailed we’ve seen in terms of ultrawide cameras, and there’s a new feature called cinematic mode on the main cam & selfie camera which can shoot in 1080p at 30 frames per second and employs powerful live focus technology to switch focus and depth in real-time, with the software deciding which subjects should be in focus and which should be blurred. All of this can be tweaked and changed post video shooting.
Software features - IOS 15
The iPhone 13’s UI, which ships with the current version of iOS 15 out of the box, isn’t really a significant upgrade over iOS 14, but it does have a few new features, such as focus options. These are essentially notification and call filter configurations that you can switch between user profiles depending on your current needs. Safari, the web browser, has also got an upgrade.
